Who We Are

The Low Birth Weight Development Center
Life. Support.

A Challenging Beginning...
Low birth weight infants, often born to adolescent or young adult women, typically begin life with weeks or months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.  They may have lung disorders, feeding challenges or other obstacles to overcome.  Their parents face the sudden need to adjust to caring for and raising a special needs child.

Comprehensive Programs...
At the Low Birth Weight Development Center, we offer a comprehensive mental health program for premature infants up to age 5, and education and support for women at risk of delivering a low birth weight baby.

Our experience shows that this comprehensive approach increases the effectiveness of our programs and the likelihood that each family will thrive and attain their maximum potential (Heyne, 2021).
